Mayor of Miami Suarez announces his candidacy for the presidency of the U.S

Francis X. Suarez, the American lawyer and Mayor of Miami, Florida, is running for the presidency of the United States after filing with the Federal Election Commission. Suarez hinted at the news last Sunday during his appearance on Fox News, where he alluded to a significant announcement.

He will be competing with two prominent Florida Republicans: former President Donald Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis. Reports detail that Suarez plans to officially announce his candidacy at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.

Known for his support of cryptocurrencies, Suarez has been an enthusiastic advocate for Bitcoin (BTC). As the mayor of the second-largest city by population in Florida, he received his salary in Bitcoin and chose to invest a portion of his 401K retirement plan in Bitcoin.

He also explored the possibility of allocating a portion of Miami’s treasury reserves to Bitcoin and supported initiatives that enable Miami residents to pay taxes using Bitcoin. Suarez has the support of a new Super PAC and has aired a “six-figure” ad in three states.

According to The New York Times, the ad will be shown in Nevada, Iowa, and New Hampshire. The newspaper notes that the ad features scenes of crime and a burning car, referring to it as “America Gone Biden.”

Additionally, the ad highlights the decrease in crime rate in Miami since Suarez took office. In the realm of cryptocurrencies, Suarez holds an advantage due to his support. The same cannot be said for Joe Biden or Donald Trump, both of whom have expressed their disdain for Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency industry in general.

However, Suarez will face competition from other candidates who support Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency sector. One such candidate is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a Democratic candidate who recently announced accepting Bitcoin for his campaign.

Kennedy also criticizes central bank digital currency (CBDC) and believes it could lead to financial tyranny. On the Republican side, DeSantis also opposes CBDC and has expressed a friendly stance towards crypto assets. Additionally, Suarez will be competing with Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican official who supports cryptocurrencies and accepts Bitcoin (BTC) as campaign contributions.
