Europe is preparing to roll out energy efficiency labels for Blockchains and this step may be useful for the most environmentally friendly block chain that uses quota proof, such as Ethereum or Solana.
The European Commission introduced these measures as part of broader plans to control energy consumption in the ICT sector, including the environmental labelling scheme for data centres, the computers’ energy brand and measures to clarify the amount of energy used by telecommunications services.
“The goal is to make our energy system more efficient and ready to increase the share of renewables,” Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson said. “For this, we need more innovative digital solutions and a smarter and more interactive network than today.”
