StarkWare has revealed plans for an open-source Ethereum scaling stack.

StarkWare announced today that it plans to open-source STARK Prover, an engine designed to generate cryptographic proofs that compresses hundreds of thousands of transactions submitted on Ethereum into a kilobyte smaller than a smartphone photo.

It’s also the technology behind Starknet and StarkEx, solutions that reportedly do more transactions on Ethereum than all other L2 scaling solutions combined.

According to CryptoPotato’s press release, the plan will take time to implement, but once completed, the Starknet technology stack will be open source.

StarkWare President Eli Ben-Sasson had this to say about the matter:
This is a turning point for scaling Ethereum and cryptography more generally. This will put STARK technology in its rightful place as a public good for all.
