Mastercard Seeks More Crypto Partnerships to Expand Payment Card Program

Mastercard is looking to expand its cryptocurrency payment card program through partnerships with more cryptocurrency firms, according to Reuters.

Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard’s head of crypto and blockchain, said that the company has dozens of partners worldwide offering crypto card programs and they are continuing to expand despite increased scrutiny from regulators and banks becoming more cautious.

Mastercard has already partnered with cryptocurrency exchanges such as Binance, Nexo, and Gemini to offer cryptocurrency-linked payment cards in select countries.

The company also collaborated with Coinbase on NFTs and Bakkt to enable banks and merchants in its network to offer crypto-related services. Last year, Mastercard launched a program to enable financial institutions to offer cryptocurrency trading to their clients.
