Despite Japan’s uncertainty about issuing a cryptocurrency to the central bank, the Bank of Japan is still testing the future digital yen.
According to a regional news article, the Central Bank of Japan started the CBDC release trial in collaboration with three major banks.
This pilot program aims to provide a demonstration test of Japan’s national digital currency in digital yen, which will be released in spring 2023.
