98% of CEOs expect a recession in the United States

The Conference Board released its measure of CEO confidence on Thursday. The Board is a global not-for-profit research organization of more than 1,000 public and private companies and organizations in 60 countries. The CEO confidence measure is “a barometer of the health of the US economy from the perspective of US business leaders,” the Conference Board explained, adding that its four-quarter survey was conducted between 19 September and October 21. 3 and a total of 136 CEOs participated.

“This recent survey asked leaders to describe the economic conditions they plan to face in the next 12 to 18 months,” the committee explained, adding:

A majority – 98% – said they were prepared for a US recession. In addition, 99% of leaders said they were prepared for a recession in the EU.
