Following decisions not to apply US sanctions to some commercial activities, the Iranian government has announced the creation of a platform to facilitate digital payments for imports. This announcement comes in the context of the country’s efforts to transform its economy into a digital system, adopt digital currencies, activate electronic payments, and encourage growth in the digital economy.
The platform aims to facilitate the process for Iranian companies to import goods that require payment in digital currencies, while easing the burden of financial restrictions imposed by the central bank.
Iran intends to activate the digital economy, as well as build the concept of economic justice by providing opportunities and support for young people, developing digital industries and technical infrastructure. Therefore, using digital currencies and facilitating digital payments for economic transactions is a station for achieving these goals, in the hope of improving the economic welfare of citizens.
